PROTEOMICS in Aquaculture: Applications and trends
- Omic technologies (i.e., genomics, metabolomics and proteomics) have been widely implemented in the field of farm animal proteomics with a very positive impact in areas such as aquaculture.
- Proteomics, as a powerful comparative tool, has been increasingly used over the last decade to address different questions in aquaculture, regarding welfare, nutrition, health, quality, and safety.
- A surprising wealth of tools has already been generated for genome mapping and functional studies in many of the species used in aquaculture.
- With the potential for sequencing on the horizon, the future is bright for aquaculture genomics.
