Ponds and tanks dominate with 90.62 parent resources under culture. Overall 87.56% of total potential resource is utilized for culture leaving another 12.44% for bring under culture. Total area under of River, Canal/ Khal and Beal / Boars of West Bengal is 279569.31 ha. River occupies 58% of total area followed by canal / Khal (27%) and Beal / boar (15%).
