Big Data to Check Illegal Fishing Illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing accounts for a significant amount of over fishing. Each year the global IUU catch has been estimated to be 11–26 million tones that accounts between 7% and 17% of the total global catch. IUU is creating pressure on sustainability of production. If IUU continues there is a risk for food security and livelihoods of millions of people particularly living in coastal region.
