Microarray Analysis of Fish Genomic Data for enhancing Aquaculture Productivity of India

Microarray Analysis of Fish Genomic Data for enhancing Aquaculture Productivity of India A nn Proteom Bioinform. 2017; 1: 00 6-017. August 2017 DOI:  10.29328/journal.hpbr.1001002 Project:  Fisheries/Aquaculture Econometrics/Statistics Ajit kumar Roy                                  Abstract and figures This review gives a brief introduction to the microarray technology and its experimental design and data analysis and a discussion of recent global progress in research using microarray technology in fi sh biology and aquaculture. DNA microarrays have been reported to have been used for the analysis of gene expression during various physiological, developmental or cellular processes in fi sh. During the recent past, investigators have begun to use microarrays on fi sh to address ecological, evolutionary and environmental questions including the variability o...

A Parametric Approach for Estimation of Technical efficiency of Carp Culture Farms of Kolleru Lake, Andhra Pradesh, India

A Parametric Approach for Estimation of Technical efficiency of Carp Culture Farms of Kolleru Lake, Andhra Pradesh, India July 2016 Project:  Fisheries/Aquaculture Econometrics/Statistics Ajit kumar Roy                                      Abstract and figures A stochastic frontier production function model was utilized to estimate the technical efficiency of carp farms operating in Kolleru Lake area that is the largest freshwater wetland ecosystem with shallow water area covering 955 sq. km upto 10.7 contour located in between Krishna and Godavari delta of southern India. Analysis was based on sample of 221 carp farms. The estimated mean technical efficiency (TE) was found to be 0.7260. The highest significant elasticity of coefficient was observed for feed (0.2001) followed by organic manure (0.1411) justifying the importance of these two inputs in yield ...

Evaluation of Performance of Primary Fisheries Cooperative Societies (MSS) of Tripura

Evaluation of Performance of Primary Fisheries Cooperative Societies (MSS) of Tripura A.D. Upadhyay, M. Sinha, 1 , A.K. Roy, J.R. Dhanze and D.K. Pandey College of Fisheries, Central Agricultural University, Lembucherra Tripura – 799 210, India 1 Directorate of Fisheries, Govt. of Tripura, Agartala, India Email:ad_up@rediffma Abstract Fishermen cooperatives are recognized as means of socio-economic development of fishers/fish  farming community, which generally belong to weaker section of the society. The state of Tripura  has made significant progress in fish production by 197 per cent from 2004-05 to 2011-12. An  attempt has been made in this paper to analyse the status of Fishermen Cooperatives in Tripura with  respect to water holdings and fish and fish seed production. It has been found that the fishermen  cooperative in Tripura like other states of the country is not encouraging because majority of them...

Emerging Cutting- Edge ICT Technologies of Bioinformatics, Statistics and Economics Applied to Fisheries/Aquaculture Research and Development'

Emerging Cutting- Edge ICT Technologies of Bioinformatics, Statistics and Economics Applied to Fisheries/Aquaculture Research and Development' January 2016 Project:  Fisheries/Aquaculture Econometrics/Statistics Ajit kumar Roy                                             Abstract Concepts of Cloud computing, Big Data Analytics and 'Internet of Things'' (IoT) and their application in the event of huge data generation from high throughput technologies in Bioinformatics are presented in this communication. Modern aquaculture without IoT cannot be thought of. Relevance of statistical and econometric modeling to unearth and understand what is happening inside black box is presented with live aquaculture data. Socioeconomic and impact assessment best practices are also discussed briefly to highlight the significance of of these in fisheries and aquac...

Growth of forward and backward industries linked with aquaculture in Kolleru Lake area, Andhra Pradesh, India

Growth of forward and backward industries linked with aquaculture in Kolleru Lake area, Andhra Pradesh, India October 2008: The Asia magazine October-December 2008 Project:  Fisheries/Aquaculture Econometrics/Statistics Ajit kumar Roy G. S. Saha P. Kumaraiah N. Sarangi                                                   Abstract  Kolleru Lake is the largest natural freshwater lake in India, located between the deltas of the Krishna and Godavari rivers, with a surface area of around 901 km2 at +10’ MSL contour. Kolleru Lake serves as a natural fl ood balancing reservoir for the two rivers. The lake is fed directly by the seasonal Budameru and Tammileru rivers and is connected to the Krishna and Godavari systems by over 68 infl owing drains and channels. The lake is an important habitat for a variety of resident and migrato...

Quantitative Assessment of Trend of Water Area Development, Fish Production, Fish Seed Production Over Successive Plan Periods of Nagaland

Quantitative Assessment of Trend of Water Area Development, Fish Production, Fish Seed Production Over Successive Plan Periods of Nagaland March 2013 Projects:  Fisheries/Aquaculture Econometrics/Statistics Ajit kumar Roy Anil Upadhyay Khriezhato Nakhro                                                          Abstract  A complete account of fisheries resources that includes rivers, lakes, bheels pond and tanks along with Government initiatives for fisheries development are compiled for Nagaland well known for its fish biodiversity. In spite of the available resources, in terms of aquaculture production the state of Nagaland could not make visible impact so far. The meager production of the state is still far from self-sufficient and this can be attributed to a number of constraints such as land locke...
